Face Value Press

Terms

Last updated 3 November 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Face Value Press when you use the site or order a deck. By using the site you agree to them, and to our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy.

Face Value Press is run by David Mitenko, a sole proprietor in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada (PO Box 861 Stn A, Nanaimo BC V9R 5N2). You can reach us at support@facevaluepress.com.

You sign in with a link we email you, or with Google. Keep access to your email account safe: anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You must be at least 13 to have an account, and the age of majority where you live, or have a parent's or guardian's permission, to place an order.

Try It lets you make one free card without an account. Its deck is kept in your browser's session and is deleted after 7 days without a visit unless you create an account.

You may only upload photos you have the right to use, of people who have agreed to be on your cards. For a child, you must be their parent or guardian or have their permission. You confirm this each time you tick the consent box in the card editor.

You keep your rights in your photos. You give us permission to store them, send them to our AI image service to make card art, show the art to the people your deck's sharing and visibility allow, and print and ship it, only to provide the service. This permission ends when you delete the photos, the deck or your account, except for orders already placed.

Don't upload or ask for anything unlawful, sexual, hateful, harassing or violent, anything that sexualises a minor, anything that infringes someone else's rights (such as logos or characters you don't own), or images meant to embarrass or impersonate a real person. We may refuse to make or print a card, and may remove decks or accounts that break these rules.

Card art is drawn by an AI model in a classic face-card style. Results vary: a likeness is an interpretation, not a photograph, and the image service may refuse some photos or items. Look at every card before you order; what you see on the finished cards is what we print.

If a card comes out broken or wrong, you can report it from the card editor within 7 days. We review each report and refund its credits when it's upheld.

Card art is made for your personal use. As between you and us, the card art made for your decks belongs to you. We show one of your cards as an example of our work only with your permission.

As a deck's owner, you decide who can edit it, who can print it and who can see it. Editors can change cards and upload photos; printers see only the finished cards. If you make a deck viewable by QR code or public, anyone with its address can see its finished cards, and a public deck with all its court cards made can appear in our gallery and in search results. Make sure everyone pictured is happy with that. You can make a deck private again at any time.

Making AI card art costs credits, as shown on the site. Free credits top up each day and have no cash value. Bought credits never expire. Credits can't be transferred or exchanged for money, except as our Refund Policy says.

Prices are in US dollars and include any taxes and duties, and shipping to the United States and Canada, the only places we ship. Your order is a contract once payment is taken.

Each deck is printed to order and arrives in 4 to 6 weeks; delivery dates are estimates, not guarantees. Printed colours can differ a little from your screen.

Returns, reprints and refunds follow our Refund Policy.

You can stop using the site and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after telling you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

We work hard to keep the site running and your decks safe, but we provide it as it is and can't promise it will always be available or error-free. Keep your own copies of photos that matter to you.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived.

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without taking away the protection of the consumer laws where you live.

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for important changes tell account holders by email before they apply. Orders already placed keep the terms they were placed under.
